Afiakurue, Effiong Daniel was born on 13th February, 1958.
He attended Salvation Army Secondary School, Akai-Ubium in Akwa
Ibom state from (1973 – 1977), for his West African School
Certificate; thereafter he proceeded to the University of
Calabar, between (1977 – 1981) and obtained a Bachelor of
Science (Hons) degree in Mathematics/Statistics.
In (1993) he bagged a postgraduate diploma in computer science
from the University of Lagos. Afiakurue, Effiong Daniel worked
briefly with Cross River State Teaching Service Commission as
Science Teacher between (1982-1984).
He worked in the Federal Civil Service (FCS) and served in
several capacities first with the Federal Ministry of
Employment, Labour and Productivity as a Statistician II and
Head of Computer Unit and rose to the position of Chief Program
Analyst and Head of Computer Unit.
Afiakurue, E. D. has attended several professional and
management courses covering Information Technology, Operations
of Databank, Research and Planning Techniques, Strategic
Communication and oil related training programmes.

NATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
Served as Asst. Chief Computer/Program Analyst and statistician
to both the Special Committee on the Review of Petroleum
Products Supply and Distribution – SCRPPSD (August – November,
1999) and Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Committee (PPPRC)
CONTRIBUTION
He has written many customized software packages for several
government agencies including the one for the analysis of the
general sample survey of employment, wages, earnings and hours
of work for the ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity
and used by the International Labour Organisation for the yearly sample labour force survey
publication.
He has also written other software packages on Payroll,
Expenditure Control System and Inventory records management for
use in the civil service.
HONOURS AND COMMENDATIONS
Commendation on excellent performance and exemplary service as a
secretariat staff of the Special Committee For The Review Of
Petroleum Products Supply And Distribution by the Committee.
Commendation from Alabo Tonye Graham Douglas, former Minister of
Employment, Labour and Productivity on job performance
(Information Management) in the Ministry where he served as
computer Analyst/programmer.
